Here’s a quick overview of standard rubber fin straps (used on scuba/snorkel fins), including typical sizes and what “standard” means in this context — plus examples you can buy:
PSI Standard Rubber Fin Strap Characteristics
-
Material: Usually natural or vulcanized rubber — strong, flexible, and water-resistant.
-
Purpose: Replacement strap for open-heel dive fins (holds your heel in place).
-
Standard Dimensions (approximate):
-
Typical width: ~30 mm (about 1.2 in)
-
Typical length: ~450–460 mm (about 17.7–18.1 in)
-
Thickness varies by brand but is enough to last in saltwater and not overstretch.
-
-
Most “standard” straps are universal fit and will work with many brands, but always check the hole/rivet spacing on your fins.
-
There isn’t a single official global standard for fin strap size — divers rely on common sizes from manufacturers (e.g., ~460 mm length). Some earlier diving equipment standards like DIN 7876 discussed fin dimensions and strap adjustability but have since been withdrawn.
